Impact for Transformative Leadership

I was listening to a programme some years ago and the speaker made a statement that really got me.

He said if you were a guest at your own funeral, what would you want to hear people say about you.

This made me start reflecting on my life and purpose. What would people say about me and the impact I made or not in their lives? Over the years, I have always reflected on this. Which is why I am so excited that the Holy Spirt gave us Impact for transformative leadership as our theme for this year.

Many of us have goals, and plans of what we want to do and what we want to achieve. However we hardly pause to think about what impact we would have in the lives of others. Our goals does not go beyond the activity we plan to do.

Are you aware of the impact you make in other people’s life? Do you even care?

One of the vital skills of a leader is self-awareness. Leadership is relational, because leaders lead people not things. Effective leaders will discern how they are impacting people around them.

A leader who is clear about purpose, takes the next step to achieve purpose by making the right impact. Leaders need people to help them achieve their vision. They will shape what they do to have the most positive impact possible. Every action leads to a positive or negative impact.

The wrong impact leads to the wrong outcome.

The wrong impact erodes trust. There is no effective leadership without trust, it becomes a dictatorship.

The wrong impact leads to failure.

As light of the world and salt of the earth, your life should impact positively and transformatively.

Understand your self and the impact you make on people.

“You can never have an impact on society if you have not changed yourself.” Nelson Mandela.

This year our theme will bring impact into our consciousness. We will hear from amazing speakers as we are challenged to go beyond what we do to the impact we make. We are going to be challenged to be deliberate about impact.

I trust you will be impacted positively.
